Hearst Castle

We stopped off at Hearst Castle in California (which is really more of an old, luxurious ranch) to break up the drive back to Tucson. We got there late in the day, so the main "experience" tour for 1st time visitors was all sold out. Thus, we had to settle for a different tour that covered less territory, but went into greater depth. Oh well. Our favorite part was the pools.

After that, we spent the night in Ventura, CA, and drove home the next day. Here are the 2 little troopers who braved the long drive. During the whole trip, they logged over 4000 miles in these car seats. They were fairly well behaved, for the most part, but as you can imagine, there's only so much that a 2 year old and 4 month old can take before they go nuts. We've now decided that we won't do any more road trips longer than 2 weeks with little ones. :)

The last cool thing we unexpectedly saw on the drive were miles of windfarms just to the east of the L.A. metro area, and all the blades were spinning. It was a pretty neat sight. The picture doesn't do justice to show just how massive these farms are.

FUN!!! VENTURA!! You got to see where Chip grew up! Beautiful place. I grew up is Santa Paula which is just 11 miles North on highway 126. Where did you stay while you were passing through?
