Surgery
Everest had to go in for surgery at OHSU to correct a birth defect. He's a trooper. Fortunately, he received a priesthood blessing and the surgery went well. Afterwards, he was in good spirits.
Lovely Summer
It's been fun to see the plants around the house start blooming.
We celebrated Independence Day with my parents up in Salem at Kari and Nates house.
Ryzen's Baptism
Chickens
Tara loves getting daily eggs from our 3 chickens. If only they didn't eat all the berries in our garden. :)For now though, they remain on Tara's good side.
Ryzen was baptized on July 10, 2021 in the Danebo building in Eugene, OR. His aunt Kari gave a good talk on baptism and gave him some cotton candy to remind him that we get messy in this life, but through repentance, baptism, and sacrament, we can become and stay clean. His grandmother Connie gave a nice talk about listening to the spiritual nudges from the Holy Ghost. His baptism was particularly memorable because after he stepped out of the font to go get changed, he got a bloody nose and his jumpsuit and towel paid the price. He had a great attitude about it despite that.
My dad had to work at the temple that day, but my mom was able to come.
We took Tara's parents on a bunch of hikes and excursions around Eugene and the area nearby.
Tara's parents were able to come from Utah to watch. They were the witnesses and Jerry participated in the confirmation.
Ribbon Trail to Hendrick's Park
The Rose Garden by the Willamette
Clay Creek by Wilson Bridge
where Ryzen hunted for crawdads and got pointers from another guy who was there.
Sweet Creek Falls hike
Heceta Head Lighthouse
They also watched our kids so we could go out for a date. Here we are eating ice cream at the 5th Street Market.
Blueberry picking
Grease Camp
Aria got the part of Cha Cha in a week long musical theater camp where at the end of the week they performed a 1 hour version of the movie. Here she is practicing her main dance.
