So we didn't get to see much of the Canyon until the next day. We decided to go setup camp and Tara began cooking tin foil dinners in the fire. (Chopping the wood for that fire nearly cost me my leg.) :)
Here's the crew the next morning, enjoying a rare moment of moderate temperatures. The afternoons got pretty hot. Notice how Aria found the marshmallows.
We started the morning off by hiking around the South Rim of the canyon.
The kids got worn out so when we drove to the next lookout, they passed out. Just before Aria fell asleep, she grabbed Zade's hand and Tara was able to get this great picture.
My favorite lookout was from Lipan Point, because it allows you to see a nice cross section of the canyon, along with the river below:
By evening Aria was going crazy, and refused to do anything but lay on this bench:
But despite her obstinance, we were able to get a few good pics:
And the best views of the canyon came at sunset. It really brings out the colors.
